Niema Jordan is a journalist and filmmaker from Oakland, Calif. Her career has included working at Essence magazine, developing digital strategies for women entrepreneurs, and blogging about arts & culture. Jordan has interviewed women in various sectors including Danyel Smith, Nina Compton, Nicki Minaj and Ericka Huggins. Jordan graduated from Northwestern University with a bachelor’s in magazine journalism and African American studies, and is currently working toward master’s degrees in documentary film and public health from the University of California, Berkeley. Niema was recently a guest on KQED Forum where she talked about the importance of women role models. “Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of interviewing and working women who understand the power of their voice and their presence. I am constantly inspired by their ability carve their own path despite the odds.”
