Karen Jenkins-Johnson received her BA at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA and earned her MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. She sits on the board of the internationally-acclaimed Alonzo King Lines Ballet.
She opened Jenkins Johnson Gallery in San Francisco in 1996 and in New York in 2005. The gallery is a member of SFADA and AIPAD, and Karen is a former president of SFADA. She’s dedicated to promoting the careers of emerging and established artists, as well as preserving the oeuvres of vintage photographers. Her current exhibitions showcase female artists who are making important cultural statements or who are offering informative views on relevant topics. Karen was instrumental in creating Art Gallery Week, featuring 36 galleries in San Francisco and Oakland in 2012, as well as the Chelsea Art Walk in New York.
